Simone
Lahbib, 31, has starred in several TV series including London's
Burning, Dangerfield and The Young Person's Guide to Being A
Rock Star, but she's most famous for her role as the strict
lesbian prison officer Helen Stewart in Bad Girls (although
in real life she's happily betrothed to her boyfriend of three
years). Though Scottish-born, Simone has a Frednch father and
an Algerian grandmother who are responsible for her exotic colouring.
Here, she tells LOOKS how she maintains her good looks with
regular Cathiodermic facials (a treatment that uses an electric
current to expel toxins from the skin). Ouch!
You've been acting for over ten years. Since becoming
famous, which products have you discovered?
The make-up artist here, in fact, introduced me to Cathiodermie
facials. I was working really hard, wearing loads of heavy make-up
and my skin wasn't great, but she sent me for this facial and
I haven't looked back. She also introduced me to a mosturiser
Temps Majeur by Yves Saint Laurent, which is just amazing.
Which products do you always carry with you?
I always carry eye drops, eyelash curlers and Vaseline. In fact
sometimes I put Vaseline on my lashes and curl them and then
I don't have to wear mascara.
You film long five-to-six day weeks for Bad Girls. How
do you relax?
Well, I go through stages of being really good and going to
the gym and having massages and facials - but then I won't do
anything for months.
How much do you spend on make-up a month?
A lot. The gym is about $65 a month, my hair is about £120
every six weeks and then about one massage or facial a month.
What's your fav perfume?
I love L'Eau D'lssey by Issey Miyake and also Shiseido's Feminite
Du Bois. My friend wears this gorgous perfume called In Love
which I love, but I think it's been discontinued.
What's on your wish list now?
Well, apart from a new car, I would like that new volumising
mascara from Yves Saint Laurent which is just brillant for giving
you longer lashes.
Is there anything you and the other girls share on set?
Well, we all fight over the croissants, but never make-up!
What's the best bit of beauty advice you've been given?
A simple one. Always take your make-up off at night, otherwise
your skin can't breathe.
What is your best feature, and your worst?
I like my long eyelashes and I spend a long time over my eyebrows.
But I'm not that keen on my hair - it's baby fine and I always
need thickening serum.
Do you think you are beautiful and who else do you think
is beautiful?
I'm happy with myself; I think you have to be really. But I
think that Kate Moss is gorgous, as is Catherine Zeta Jones
and Courtney Cox. And Michelle Pfeiffer still looks amazing
- though I was pleased to see in What Lies Beneath that she
has a protruding blue vein in her forehead!
