A
surprise for Simone . . . ?
Former Bad Girls and Family star Simone Lahbib plays DCI Gunning in
Fallen and reveals the last time she appeared in a cop drama, she met
her husband, Raffaello Degruttola.
They starred together in Thief Takers seven years ago and married last
May, but it wasn't love at first sight.
"We had one short scene together and shared a car a couple of times,
but it wasn't until the last day of filming that he asked me out for
a drink," she says.
Since tying the knot, they've spent long periods apart due to work commitments.
But Simone, 38, is hoping for a romantic anniversary reunion in her
native Scotland, where she's currently filming Monarch of the Glen.
"Maybe Raffaello will surprise me - it's his turn," she says.
"For his 30th birthday, I woke him up half-an-hour before the taxi
took us to the airport. I took him to Barcelona and, next day, 10 friends
joined us. It was great - I'm the best at arranging surprises!"
Upside-down Cake....
What would you do if you woke up in hospital and found a woman and child
you didn't recognise claiming to be your wife and son? Thats the dilemma
DI jason Shepherd faces in ITV1's crime thriller Fallen.
The two part police drama follow Jason's nerve racking journey as he
battles against amnesia and tries to piece together his life - including
his marriage to Louise (Kerrie Taylor).
This is a role that has actor Jonathon Cake chasing around, shooting
guns. The 35 year old is already known as a bit of an action man, as
after graduating from Bristol Old Vic theatre school, he appeared in
ads for Milk Tray chocolate.
"Fans might be surprised to know I'm bit of a big girl when it
comes to guns," he laughs, "I don't really understand what
the 'phwoar factor' is with men when it comes to guns. I'm not really
the boy racer type either - I don't even own a car."
"I have to admit in one part of the show you can hear me go 'Pee-ow!'
when I pull the trigger. So maybe there is a small boy lurking somewhere
inside, trying to get out."
Among the Cambridge University graduate's recent roles was a New York
gynaecologist in an American TV production, Marriage.
But when it comes to getting hitched in real life, Jonathon hasn't taken
the plunge, although he does have a partner, but prefers not to name
them.
Six years ago, there were some headlines when he supposedly jilted The
Sixth Sense star Olivia Williams shortly before their wedding. She went
on to marry actor Rhashan Stone and has recently given birth to a baby
girl.
Jonathon says, "We didn't get married because we weren't meant
to marry each other. And I'm not going to go into the whys and wherefores
of that."
"Ultimately, we're vey happy that we didn't. It wasn't the right
thing for us, and thank goodness, we worked it out in the nick of time."
"I don't see the need to be married. But I do love a good wedding,
I get so overemotional."
"I find them terribly sexy too. Everbody comes because they want
to celebrate for the couple... and because you know at least one couple
is going to have sex during that day!"
