KILLERS BEWARE
Crime
drama Wire in the Blood returns for a new series – and clinical
psychologist Tony Hill has a new detective to pester with his theories.
Hermione Norris who played DI Carol Jordan, quit the show last year
and Scottish Actress Simone Lahbib joins Bradfield CID as Carol’s
replacement, DI Alex Fielding.
‘Alex is a single mum, strong yet very feminine, and very different
to Tony,’ says Simone, best known for her roles in Bad Girls
and Monarch of the Glen. ‘She likes forensics and hard evidence,
none of this psychobabble, so Tony and Alex are at loggerheads from
the start. But soon she recognises his worth and they begin to work
well together.
The first episode takes Alex and Tony (Robson Green) into the dark
and dangerous corners of the fictional town of Bradfield Yorkshire,
to investigate the grisly deaths of young woman lured away from home
by a sex fiend, before being murdered for pleasure.
‘You don’t actually see much of the violence on the show,
but it can be deeply psychological, which is just as disturbing,’
explains Simone.
Now that the filming has finished Simone is enjoying spending time
with her actor husband, Raffaello Degruttola and their daughter Skye,
who was born last year.
‘I love being a Mum and showing Skye new things,’ Simone
smiles ‘she’s only tiny, but we’ve already taken
her to the zoo!’
Simone admits that she has struggled to lose all of her pregnancy
weight.
‘Thank goodness for elastic pants!’ she laughs. ‘But
I look at my child and think it’s worth it.’
‘I wanted to be a yummy mummy, but I don’t have time to
go to the gym. I don’t even have time to brush my hair.’
